A very common question that people ask is, "What is innovation? "What's the difference between innovation and creativity, for example?" I like to think of innovation as the steps, the process that you take to create an idea and get it into the marketplace. And it's a long process, depending on the complexity of the project. Creativity, on the other hand, is what you do in your head to generate the idea. And so they're very closely linked.
I look at creativity, the generation of the idea, as the starting point for innovation. But just getting the idea out of your head is not enough. Then you've gotta take all the steps necessary to put life to that idea, to develop prototypes, to test it, to ultimately build it, and then successfully launch it in the marketplace.
