You can see that right to publicity is pretty intuitive. It's pretty easy to understand. People have the right to protect the use of their name, their face, their persona, their voice. If you take video, you should get a model release. If you take photos of people, you should get a model release. If you're going to use somebody in a website, you should get a model release. If you're going to put somebody's name on something, you should get a release for that. You shouldn't assume that because you can acquire the copyrights in a photo, maybe on a stock photo website, that you can use that photo to endorse a product or service. For example, it's, it's quite easy to find a photo of any number of famous and non-famous people on any number of stock photo websites. Can you use those? It really depends on the scope of the license. If it's somebody famous, you should probably not use it unless you've also negotiated the right to use that from the famous person.
