All right, so let's say you've created something, you own copyrights. Once you own copyrights, what does that mean? What do you get? What do you own when you own copyrights? And it's a surprise to some people to find out that it means you have the right to sue somebody, privately, for infringement. There is one formality, in order to sue you actually have to register the copyright. It's $35, it's pretty easy to do. A lot of people don't register their copyrights. You still own the copyright. You don't have to register in order to own the rights. You own the rights immediately upon creation. But in order to sue, the government wants you to pay the fee and own a copyright registration. Once you have the registration, then you have the right to stop people in court. And you sue them for copyright infringement. What is infringement? It's copying. Well how do you prove that?
