Creating a full career profile is an important step to identifying all your options and will allow you to maximize your career flexibility. If you've been following along and completing the exercises in your career development guide you should now have all the components to create your career profile. Your final step in this section is to pull this information together in a concise manner. As you're writing career profile there are few things to keep in mind. First. This is a motivating document for you to discover your best career options.
Write it so that it encourages you to really focus on your goals. Second. You'll also use your career profile to create your pitch or career story. Your career story will help you speak to your networks as you explore options and find jobs. Third. Keep the career profile concise. You want to be able to quickly describe your ideal career to potential employers. You can write this in story form or bullet points whichever works best for you. There are three sections to your career profile. First.
List out the top transferable skills, knowledge, and qualifications that you identified previously. These are the ones you want to use in your future jobs. Second. List your top lifestyle considerations. Remember lifestyle choices are decisions that impact the way you want to live. Write down the choices that are most important to you. Finally, include your top work culture choices. These should be work cultural traits that will help you to thrive in your work environment and feel satisfied.
Remember that this is a reference guide for you to go back to as opportunities open up. Use this career profile to confirm if certain jobs or career choices match your needs. Finally, I recommend that you set a reminder in your calendar to review your profile once a year. Careers are ever evolving so this document should be as well. Now that your profile is completed in the next chapter we will see how we can use it to explore options.
