Closing the interview

Once you've asked your questions it's time to answer any questions that the applicant has regarding the role, co-workers, the culture of the organization or any other questions that they have. In answering the questions it's important to provide honest responses about what it's really like to work at the organization, within the group, or in the position. By providing a realistic job preview to the applicant, they can make an informed decision about whether the opportunity is right for them. Being transparent is a key factor in subsuquent job satifsfaction, improved productivity, and reduced turnover. You also want to let the applicant know what happens next. If you're in the middle of the interview agenda, close by letting the applicant know that it's time to meet the next interviewer. If you're the last interviewer of the day the applicant may ask, what happens next. I recommend that you keep it simple, and let them know that the HR representative, or hiring manager, will follow up…
