The "circles of trust" model is a helpful tool for describing relationships. In the innermost circle, you work on your trustworthiness and ethical decision making. In the middle circle, you work on your everyday relationships with colleagues and peers. In the outer circle, you project credibility and trustworthiness beyond your usual circle, building relationships that are based on mutual benefit.
In this course, author Brenda Bailey-Hughes shows how to strengthen relationships within the three circles of trust. Plus, learn how to build trust in remote teams, repair lost or broken trust, and deliver an apology to speed the rebuilding process.
Hello, and welcome to Building Trust. My name is Brenda Bailey-Hughes, and I specialize in coaching executives, business professionals, and college students on communication skills. Over the years I've realized that trust and communication go hand in hand. In this course, you and I will explore what trust is and just how important it can be to our organizations and to us individually. We'll discover the three circles of trust, beginning with those behaviors and values deep within us and working outward to the behaviors that others use to judge our credibility.
If you're in a situation where trust has been broken, check out the section on how to rebuild violated trust. Working in virtual teams presents unique challenges for building trust, so I've included some tips for that. And finally, we all know that trust in our personal lives is every bit as important as trust at work, so there's also a section for you on that.
