This course provides an overview of modeling, animating, and rendering 3D graphics in the open-source software Blender 2.6. Beginning with a tour of the Blender interface, author George Maestri shows how to create and edit basic objects, work with modifiers and subdivision surfaces, and apply materials and textures. The course also demonstrates lighting 3D scenes, setting up and using cameras, animating objects, and assembling basic character rigs.
Hi! I'm George Maestri and welcome to Blender 2.6 Essential Training. Blender is a very powerful 3D modeling, animation, and rendering application. It can be used to create visuals for animation, special effects, and gaming. Probably one of the best things about Blender is that it's free, it's an open source application so you can download it whenever you want and use it on OS X, Windows, or Linux.
In this course we're going to go over the basics of the Blender 2.6 interface, then we're going to show you how to model, we're going to go over polygonal modeling, so that you can build your own objects and characters. After that we're going to take a look at materials, we're going to look at how to create glossy, reflective, and transparent materials. After that we'll take a look at textures including how to apply bitmaps to your objects and how to map them in the UV Editor, we're going to take a look at lighting and rendering, so that you can create realistic scenes and realistic environments.
And finally, we're going to take a look at animation including character rigging where we will build a simple character rig. So let's go ahead and get started with Blender 2.6 Essential Training.
