Demo: Working with references

In this lesson I'm going to show you how I would approach the reference challenge drawing. As a bonus, this task will also give us a chance to review many of the concepts we've looked at in this title. As you can see we're picking up right where we left off in the last video. I'd like to start by externally referencing this existing conditions drawing. To do that, I'll go to the Insert tab and then I'll click Attach. I will make sure that the files of type is set to DWG. And in the size's file folder I'll select this drawing. 04_existing conditions. And I'll click Open. Now when I attach this geometry, I want to make sure it comes in at the same location, size and rotation as it is in the original file. So I will leave all of these boxes unchecked. I will also accept the default relative pair, and I'd like to use the Overlay reference type. That way if someone were to externally reference my drawing, the existing conditions won't go along for the ride. I'll click okay when finished…
