Creating a layout, part three: Cutting viewports

In the last couple lessons, we've been configuring layout one such that we can create a formal plot of this drawing. In this lesson, we'll add a viewport to the layout such that we can view and plot this floor plan at a measurable scale. I'm going to start by revisiting Layout1. As you can see, it's just the way we left it. At this point you may be wondering where do these layouts exist in relation to the drawing? Well, the layouts sit on top of Model Space. So, to see the drawing we'll need to cut a hole in this sheet. That hole is called a Viewport and before I create the Viewport I'm going to create a Layer to put that Viewport on. I'll do that by moving up to the Layer panel, and I'll open the Layer Properties Manager. I will then click the New Layer icon, and I'll call this layer VIEWPORT. I will then click the green check to set that layer Current, and I'll close the Layer Properties Manager. To create the view port, I'll select the Layout tab, and then in the Layout Viewports…
