Zooming, panning, and regenning
AutoCAD's model space environment can accommodate geometry of any size. Depending on the discipline, a drawing may range from a small mechanical part to an entire city. For this reason it's important to know how to quickly navigate your way around in a file. In this lesson, we'll take a look at the Pan and Zoom tools. On my screen, I have a Civil Engineering example, this drawing represents a proposed parking lot design. To zoom in on this geometry, I am going to roll the mouse wheel forward, to zoom out I can roll the wheel the back. If I want to zoom in on a specific area like this orange car, for instance. I'll place my cursor over the car, and then I'll roll the mouse wheel forward. Notice that the zooming is focused on the location of the cursor. Now, if I hold the mouse wheel down, I can pan the drawing, much like we pan an Adobe Acrobat document. Using pan and zoom together, we can quickly navigate to any location in the file.
