In this video, we'll examine all the ways you can use the layer drop down menu. Open the Architectural4 sample file in the chapter 11 folder. The first thing you can do with the layer drop down is set the current layer. You do that by opening it up and clicking on the word, doors. Then I can draw an object and it will appear on that layer. It will appear in the same color as the layer only if the color property is set to bylayer. So I really want to emphasize that when you're using layers, you should set each one of these three properties to read by layer. Then, you can rely on the layers to control things like color, line weight, and line type. Let's go to layer properties and make a new layer, and let's call it upper cabinet. And I can go up here to the header and drag that over. So we can read that better. Let's change the color, and I'll use this orange color 40. Okay. I will double click on the layer to make it current. I'll also change the linetype by clicking on the word…
