Having your music available in the major online stores like iTunes and streaming services like Spotify, is important because people use them for finding and purchasing new music. However, with these stores you have no interaction with these people. To enable a more personal interaction with your fans and to build your fan base, you can can use an online service to set up a shop that allows you to sell your music, merchandise and other items like concert tickets directly to your fans. That way you can build your email list, sell them more than just your music, and make more money per sale. There are a number of services that can help you to do this. We'll look at three of them here, Topspin, ReverbNation, and Bandcamp. If you do nothing else as an indie musician, you should use one of these services to get your wares out there into the world.
