Finding imagery data using EarthExplorer

Another excellent GIS Data portal to use is the USGS EarthExplorer. This particular data portal is designed to extract imagery data, aerial imagery, and satellite imagery. Notice on the left, we have a table of contents. Here we can define the search criteria that we want to use, in order to find the data sets that are available. We could either add in a place, or we could use predetermined coordinates, or we could even use predefined areas, shape files, or KML layers to define what places we want to extract from. Furthermore, we can also limit our search by date. Let's go ahead and choose a place and find out the results. Here I'm going to type in New York City. And now I'll click on show. This is the place I want to add to my map. Notice it gives me the latitude and the longitude. If I click on the link for New York, New York, USA, I now have that latitude and longitude added to the map and now, my search for data sets will be limited to that specific location.
