Let's talk about hard drives for a moment. I love these things for storing your photos. Now one point that I want to make right up top is that you don't want all of your pictures to live on the computer here. The problem is a lot of people have only one copy of their pictures on their computer, and computer hard drives: they fail all the time. So you want some protection, and a great way to do that is have copy of your photos on an external hard drive. Now we have this little guy here; isn't he cute? He is adorable, but he holds tons and tons of photographs, and yet he can fit right here in my top pocket.
So this is a great hard drive for you to have when you're on the go. That way after you upload your pictures to your computer, you can make copies to it, and then you have them in two spots. Perfect! There are medium sized hard drives here that are shock resistant, and can take moisture, and things like that. And then we have these medium size hard drives here that have a higher capacity, they are a little bulkier, but yet they still fit in your backpack. This is a fun one here: this unit actually has two hard drives in it.
Two hard drives: one here, and one here. There's two bays, so that when I transfer my images from my computer to this hard drive it then backs it up to the second hard drive. That way if something goes wrong with one of these two hard drives, you still have your stuff. It's pretty exciting, and these are very large capacity. These start at 1 terabyte each, but they go all the way up to 6 terabytes. That is a lot of storage. This last one here; this is a little iomega. We will be talking about it more later, but this hard drive can actually go on your network. That means that many people can access it, and that also means that you can access it from the cloud, which means if you're somewhere else you can get to your pictures back at home.
And it also has two drives in it that back up one from the other. So as you can see, there's a variety of hardware that we have here, and the best news is that the prices have really come down, so these are affordable solutions. You can get little hard drives like this for less than $100. These, a lot of these, you can get for less than $200 now. Fantastic! So hard drives, backup your photos, be safe, and have fun too.
