The Aperture and iPhoto Libraries, they're actually these wonderful containers that hold your data, your thumbnails, your original images. Very handy! It's like having a very cool grocery bag to carry all these items so you don't have to juggle them in your arms. And these containers can be moved and they can be renamed. Now, to move them, it's very simple. You basically just click and drag them to wherever you want. And you can create folders to organize these at the Finder level wherein our Exercise File folder right now, which is inside the Pictures folder and I can open that up and there they are.
Now, if I want to rename, there are two ways that you can do that. One is you can just click on the name itself and type. That's one way to do it. Now, I actually use Get Info most of the time for renaming, because it allows me to look at some of the other things that are going on. So, I'm just going to click on the file and I'm going to do Command+I right here and I could name it, for example, at Dusk, and hit the Tab key to enter it.
You noticed that it changes right away in the Finder. While I'm in Get Info, I can check to see the default application that this library will open with, how big it is when it was last modified. So, there are some other goodies in here. That's why I normally go here. But you can do it either way. And then, I'll just click Close right here. So there we go. Now, I'm not going to leave it at this name. I prefer just Sunflowers. So, let's just go back.
Command+I again and I'm just going to take at Dusk out. Hit the Tab key. Close, and just like that. So, you can move these containers around. You can rename them. There are two different ways that I like to do it. I love Get Info. Either way, you have control over how these libraries read and where they are located.
