Intimidated by 3D modeling packages? Dip a toe in the water with CINEMA 4D (C4D) Lite, a slimmed down version of CINEMA 4D included with After Effects CC. Motion graphics designer Angie Taylor shows you how to build a complete sequence in C4D Lite, progressing from initial object modeling, to animation, lighting, camera rigging, texturing, and final render. Plus, learn to animate text, create random movement with wiggle expressions, track cameras in live-action footage to add new 3D elements, and light your scene. Angie also round-trips the project files to After Effects for visual effects and color correction. With over 100 videos, this course allows you to explore almost every aspect of 3D motion graphics creation, within this accessible introductory tool.
We're in Chapter 304.C4D. And we're going to continue building our robot. So I'm going to take the hips, and I'm going to hold down the control key. And click and drag upwards to create the body holding down Shift, constrain it. And we're going to use the object properties just to adjust the size. So let's make that 60 wide and I'm going to use the Tab key to go between the different properties. So, 60 by 120 by 100. Okay, so there we have our body.
Now you'll notice that it's scaling around in the centre all the time. One of the limitations with parametric objects is that you can't easily change the axis of them in order to scale from an edge or a non-centre axis. There are workarounds for this. You could use a null object to create a new axis or you can make the object an editable object. But we'll have a look at those options later. So for now we'll just work around the limitations as we want to keep the object as flexible as we can while creating our basic shapes.
But we could just move that into position once we've adjusted it, and then we're going to create a chest so the chest we could probably create by just duplicating the hips. I usually look for the object that's the closest in shape to the thing that I want to create. So, that's a little bit about moving and scaling and rotating objects. Just keep in mind that there are limitations to using this, but we'll have a look at other ways of creating objects a little bit later. Only thing left to do is just rename that body layer.
Body and then we can move on to the other body parts.
