Promethean interactive whiteboards bring the immediacy of touch to your teaching. Learn the tools and best practices for using one in your classroom, in this course from author and educator Aaron Quigley. Aaron shows how to set up your Promethean board; download ActivInspire, the software that drives Promethean boards; and get started creating new presentations that include video, quizzes, and annotations. He'll also focus on teaching methods that get your students actively involved with the Promethean board, and offer challenges along the way to test their skills.
In addition to using icons for the clock, there's a variety of actions that we can bring up that are really beneficial to have embedded on the page. For example, I could create an object and I could associate it to bring up the compass, or even a calculator for math. However, for some of these more commonly used actions we have the ability to create the object and the action in a single step. And we access those under the Drag and Drop action menu. Here, under the Drag and Drop action menu I can simply grab something such as a ruler and I can drag it out to the page. When I release it, I've created a small icon that looks like a ruler, and when I click on this icon, it opens up the ruler directly on the page.
I'm going to go and close out of this ruler. Now because it's an action, every single time I click on it, it's going to go ahead and open up that ruler. In order to move this, I'm going to come back to my object browser, I'm going to go ahead and click around until I find the appropriate object, and now I can use the move handles to position it where I'd like to have it on the page. Using the Drag and Drop action browser's a quick way to add both the icon and the action for commonly used elements inside of your flip chart pages.
