Applying the Skin modifier

Now that our rig is complete, it's time to skin the character. We're going to take the bones of the character and use those to deform the mesh using the Skin Modifier. So let's take a look at our character's mesh. I'm going to go ahead and open my Layer Manager. And I'm going to unhide my Geometry layer, as well as unfreeze it. Now if I open this layer, you see that, we actually have a quite bit of geometry. We have a piece of geometry here for the character's body. We have a separate one for the head as well as things like the hair and the eyes and so on. Now in this lesson, I am going to actually just skin the body. We are going to leave the head separately because we've got a lot of facial morph targets to deal with. And that's a whole separate rigging operation. So, we are going to. Just stick to the body here. So in order to skin something, all you have to do is apply a skin modifier. So I'm going to go ahead and select my body.
