Fixing incorrect geometry
What do you do if you have a print that doesn't match your design file? Even if a design looks fine while you're preparing it in MakerBot Desktop, you can end up with a print that has unexpected holes, or it's filled in in areas where it shouldn't be. What's going on? The most common cause is non-manifold geometry. This is especially common with mesh-based modeling programs like SketchUp, Blender and others. There're holes in your file, perhaps faces that don't precisely meet up, or faces that are flipped the wrong way. One way to catch this problem is to preview the tool path before sending the design to print. In MakerBot Desktop, we can check the print preview as part of our print process. From the preview it's clear that something is wrong with our file. If the slicer is interpreting your file incorrectly, your file needs to be repaired before you print it.
