What if I don't have a 3D printer?

This course is meant to be used in conjunction with a MakerBot or other brand of desktop filament based 3D printer. If you don't own one, look for one in your community. Check maker spaces, libraries, and schools, without access to a printer. You can still learn about creating a part in Tinkercad, you just won't be able to physically print your design. Also note that the chapters on optimizing and customizing, are specific to filament based printers, often called fused filament fabrication. If you want to send your file to a 3D printing service, or use a different 3D printing technology like stereo lithography, look to other courses in Lynda's library, like Ryan Kittleson's Shapeways course, to learn about optimizing and preparing your design for a service bureau. Whatever your 3D printing plans, the Tinkercad videos, are a really great way to get started with 3D design.
