Stopping a walk

Now that we understand how to start a walk, let's talk a look at how to stop one. Now when you stop a character's walk, it's really just a matter of taking a slightly shorter step and having the character redistribute his or her weight to match the pose. So let's take a look at this. We've got a simple step. And then that second step goes into a stable pose. We have a step here, and right here, where the character takes her first step, the weight of the character is going to go onto this foot here. So it's really just a matter of placing her weight over this foot, and then bringing this foot forward, almost as in a walk, but just doing a shorter step, so basically, we're just moving it right about there. So when she puts her weight on this foot, you can see we have pretty much what we have in a regular walk here. Her weight is basically going a little bit to her right. And it's basically going down to that foot. And that gives her the freedom to move that second foot. Now when she…
